Turkey to host two Iran movies

‘Mothering’ and ‘The Blue-Veiled’ by Iranian directors are to be screened at the Malatya Film Festival in Turkey.

Roqieh Tavakkoli’s ‘Mothering’ and a restored version of ‘The Blue-Veiled’ by Rakhshan Bani Etemad are the films to be screened at the 7th edition of the festival.

‘Mothering’, produced by Siavash Haqiqi, stars Nazanin Bayati, Hanieh Tavassoli and Melissa Zakeri.

The movie is about two sisters one of whom deserted her lover while in the case of the other girl, the scenario is the other way around.

Set in rural Iran, ‘The Blue-Veiled’ narrates the story of a tomato factory owner Rasul Rahmani (Ezzatollah Entezami) who is widowed and still saddened by the loss of his wife.

Iran actress Fatemah Motamed plays the role of a poor, low wage worker of the same factory who financially takes care of her family.

The two strike up a friendship when Rasul learns of Nobar's struggles, and this familiarity eventually leads to fondness between the two. But with differences in social class and age worrying his tradition-bound family, Rasul might not be able to pursue his newfound love.

The Malatya Film Festival aims to nurture the children’s interest in cinema. And as part of the “Festival Is Here” project, the children’s home residents in Malatya will get to attend the special children’s film screenings on November 11th.

The seventh edition of the festival is scheduled to run on November 9-16 in Turkey.
